Pantin, in Seine-Saint-Denis, borders the 19th and 20th arrondissements of Paris to the east. The town stretches from the Ourcq canal in the north to the former Grands Moulins mill site, now redeveloped as the BETC campus. It hosts a large and mixed Muslim community, shaped by Maghrebi, sub-Saharan African, Comorian, Turkish and South Asian migration.
Where the mosques are
The Muslim associative fabric in Pantin is dense, especially around the Quatre-Chemins district, the town hall and Petit-Pantin. Access from Paris
Métro line 5 crosses Pantin through Hoche, Église de Pantin and Bobigny-Pantin-Raymond Queneau stations. Line 7 stops at Aubervilliers-Pantin Quatre Chemins, on the border with Aubervilliers. Tramway T3b runs along the northern edge of the town. RER E stops at Pantin station, four minutes from Magenta and eight minutes from Haussmann-Saint-Lazare. Fifteen minutes on the tram bring you to Porte de Pantin and the La Villette park.
Local context
The Quatre-Chemins district, straddling Pantin and Aubervilliers, concentrates the popular shops and the most visible street life. Old inner-suburb fabric mixes with more recent housing schemes. The Ourcq canal, turned into a continuous walkway to La Villette, is the main soft-mobility route between Paris and the town. Hermès moving its headquarters to Pantin from the 1990s helped shift the town's image, without erasing its strong working-class identity.
Ramadan and neighbourhood life
Both listed mosques fill up every evening during Ramadan for Tarawih prayers. Around Quatre-Chemins, halal butchers, grocers and restaurants stay open late, with heavy activity between iftar and the middle of the night. Children take Arabic and Quran memorisation classes in the associative rooms attached to the places of worship.

Pantin belongs to the Paris metropolitan area. Worshippers reaching Paris from Pantin easily connect to the mosques of north-eastern Paris (Adda'Wa Mosque in the 19th, Fraternity Mosque near Porte d'Aubervilliers) through line 5 or tramway T3b. The directory covers the whole inner belt.
