Antony is a Hauts-de-Seine commune of around sixty-two thousand inhabitants, in the Bièvre valley, about ten kilometres south of Paris. Neighbouring Sceaux, Le Plessis-Robinson and Massy, it is one of the main towns of the southern Paris region and an active university hub thanks to the nearby Paris-Saclay campus.

Where the mosques are

The Hal Houda Mosque and the El Asr Mosque are the two main Muslim places of worship in the town, located in the most populated districts. They hold the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. Several other associative rooms exist in the town and in Bourg-la-Reine, some of them shown on the map without a detailed entry in the directory.

Access from Paris

Antony station, on RER B, connects the town to Châtelet-Les Halles in about twenty minutes and to Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport in about one hour. The Orlyval station also connects Antony to Orly airport in a few minutes. A dense urban bus network serves the different districts. By car, the A86 and N186 link Antony to the Paris ring road.

The local context

Antony is organised around several poles: the commercial town centre around the Saint-Saturnin church, the older pavilion districts, the Fontaine-Michalon district and the Croix-de-Berny to the south. The commune hosts one of the largest French military cemeteries, as well as the seat of the Hauts-de-Seine department. The local Muslim community is diverse, with North African, West African and Turkish roots, and an associative life structured around the two main mosques.

Ramadan and community life

During Ramadan, Antony's mosques hold iftar and Tarawih prayers. Halal shops, present in several districts of the town and in Massy-Palaiseau, stay open late in the evening for iftar. The Antony market is a local supply point throughout the month.

A commune of the southern Paris region

Antony is one of the main towns of the southern Paris region, alongside Sceaux, Massy and Le Plessis-Robinson. Neighbouring pages cover Paris and the main towns of the metropolitan area. The Paris page centralises the regional map and helps find a mosque from any starting point in the region.
