Saint-Jean-de-Braye lies along the eastern edge of Orléans, on the north bank of the Loire, with around 21,000 inhabitants. Once outer ring, now part of the first urban belt, the commune combines an old village core, detached-house neighbourhoods and business zones along the RD960, with several generations of families of North African origin settled here for many years.

Public transport access
Tram line B of the TAO network has its eastern terminus in Saint-Jean-de-Braye, at Clos du Hameau, with several stops in the commune, including Léon Blum and Coigneux. It reaches central Orléans in about fifteen minutes. TAO bus lines serve neighbouring Semoy, Boigny-sur-Bionne and Chécy. Les Aubrais station in Fleury-les-Aubrais is roughly ten minutes away by car. Road access is via the RD960 from Orléans, the N152 from Chécy, and the A19 Bellegarde exit from the north.
Local context
Saint-Jean-de-Braye has inherited an active industrial fabric, with the Shiseido plant, a former biscuit factory and many SMEs along the old road to Pithiviers. The old village around Saint-Jean-Baptiste church keeps its charm, while the southern part of the commune, between the Loire and the canal d'Orléans, offers natural areas and the Parc des Longues Allées. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are mainly found in the Pont Bordeau and Coigneux districts, and in the retail parks along the road to Pithiviers.
