Fleury-les-Aubrais is the third commune of Orléans Métropole with close to 21,000 inhabitants, directly north of Orléans. The town owes its growth to the railway and to Les Aubrais station, one of the main rail junctions in central France, which long employed generations of workers from across the Mediterranean basin.
Where to find a mosque in Fleury-les-Aubrais
The commune counts one listed Muslim place of worship, the AMF Cultural Center on rue de Curembourg, in the Lamballe district. It hosts the five daily prayers and Friday prayer in a modest-sized hall. For an additional prayer venue, Ibn-Badiss Mosque in central Orléans and Assounah Mosque in the Argonne district are less than ten minutes away by car or tram, and the AMF Cultural Center is easy to reach from neighbouring Saint-Jean-de-Braye or Saran.
Public transport access
Tram line A of the TAO network crosses the commune from north to south with several stops, including Libération and Marcel Belot, before reaching central Orléans in under fifteen minutes. TAO bus lines complete the service towards Saran, La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin and the northern retail parks. Les Aubrais station is served by mainline trains to Paris-Austerlitz, Tours, Limoges and Toulouse, and by regional TER trains along the Loire valley. The A10 Orléans-nord exit is a few minutes away by car, and the N20 crosses the south of the commune.
Local context
Fleury-les-Aubrais long carried the identity of a railway town, shaped by SNCF workshops and the working-class housing estates around them. The commune has diversified its fabric with activity zones to the north and extensive detached-house neighbourhoods, while keeping a shopping core around Place de la République. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are mainly found in the Lamballe district and along rue Marcellin Berthelot. The Bel-Air castle park and the banks of the canal d'Orléans offer walking spots a few minutes from the centre.
