The mosque of Saint-Jean-de-Braye is the Muslim place of worship in the commune, directly east of Orléans. It welcomes residents of the town and neighbouring communes for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

Tram line B of the TAO network has its eastern terminus in Saint-Jean-de-Braye, at Clos du Hameau, with several stops in the commune. A short bus ride or ten minutes on foot connects the station to the mosque. TAO bus lines complete the grid towards Semoy, Chécy and Boigny-sur-Bionne. By car, access is via the RD960 from Orléans, the N152 from Chécy, or the A19 Bellegarde exit from the north. On-street parking is available in the surrounding streets.

The neighbourhood

Saint-Jean-de-Braye combines an old village core around Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, detached-house estates, and business zones along the old road to Pithiviers. The Parc des Longues Allées and the banks of the Loire, in the south of the commune, offer natural areas. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented in the Pont Bordeau and Coigneux districts and along the RD960.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall is modest in size, sized for local attendance. Friday noon quickly fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
