Local context

La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin retains the memory of a long Loire-side tradition, with its boatmen's houses and its hillside once planted with vines. The Saint-Mesmin cave, in a garden overlooking the river, recalls the ancient history of the site. Saint-Mesmin church and the Château de l'Isle park form the heritage core.
