Annour Mosque

Annour Mosque stands at 22 rue de Beauvois, in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, directly west of Orléans. It welcomes residents of the commune and neighbouring districts for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

Tram line B of the TAO network has its western terminus in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, at Jean Zay, a short bus ride or a ten-minute walk from the mosque. TAO bus lines complete the service towards Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle and Ingré. By car, access is via the RD2152 from Orléans, the RD2157 towards Meung-sur-Loire, or the A10 Saran exit from the north. On-street parking is available in the residential streets around the Beauvois district.

The neighbourhood

Beauvois is a residential district of La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, within walking distance of the village core and the Béchets shopping area. The neighbourhood combines detached houses and small apartment blocks, with a shopping fabric split between rue de Beauvois, rue Nationale and the village core. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are mainly found near the shopping area and along rue Nationale. The Loire riverside walk, a few minutes away, gives direct access to the river banks and to the Loire à Vélo cycle path.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall is modest in size, sized for local attendance. Friday noon quickly fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
