Asnières-sur-Seine is a Hauts-de-Seine commune of around eighty-seven thousand inhabitants, immediately north-west of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine opposite Clichy and Gennevilliers. Neighbouring Bois-Colombes, Colombes and Levallois-Perret, it is a dense urban hub of the northern Seine loop, with the identity of an established Paris suburban town.

Access from Paris

Metro line 13 serves the town with the Gabriel Péri, Les Agnettes and Les Courtilles stations, connecting the centre to Champs-Élysées-Clemenceau in about twenty minutes. Asnières-sur-Seine station, on Transilien line J from Saint-Lazare, provides a fast link to Paris. A dense urban bus network completes local coverage, with numerous RATP lines.

Asnières is organised around several poles: the historic town centre around the town hall and Robinson park, the Bourguignons district to the south, Les Courtilles to the north and the redeveloped Seine banks. The commune hosts several sports and cultural facilities and a characteristic older pavilion fabric. The local Muslim community is present and diverse, with North African, West African and Turkish roots.

Ramadan and community life

During Ramadan, the Asnières Mosque holds iftar and Tarawih prayers. Halal shops, present in several districts and in neighbouring Gennevilliers, stay open late in the evening for iftar. The Asnières-centre market is a reference supply point throughout the month.
