Salam Mosque

Salam Mosque lies on Rue d'Ostwald, in the Koenigshoffen district of Strasbourg, right next to the town of Ostwald. It is a local prayer venue for residents of south-western Strasbourg. It holds the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

Elsau tram stop, on line B, is about ten minutes on foot. Comtes and Martin Schongauer stops, on line F, also serve the district. CTS buses 4, 19 and 50 complete the network. From the central station, line B reaches Elsau in about fifteen minutes. By car, the A35 Elsau exit and Rue de la Plaine des Bouchers lead to the area.

The neighbourhood

Southern Koenigshoffen, in the section close to Ostwald, combines residential zones, craft activities and major facilities such as the exhibition centre. The district is crossed by the Bruche river and bordered by the Neuhof forest. Halal shops, butchers and oriental grocers are numerous along Route des Romains, Rue de la Plaine des Bouchers and near Place des Fêtes. Parc de l'Ill and the banks of the Bruche offer green spaces a few minutes away.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall is suited to neighbourhood life. Friday noon attendance fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. A separate area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
