The neighbourhood
Neuhof is a large district south of Strasbourg, between the Neuhof forest and the banks of the Rhine. Long shaped by precariousness, it has benefited from renewal plans that reshaped part of its urban fabric, with new schools, sports facilities and housing. The Neuhof forest, listed as a national nature reserve, borders the district to the east. Halal shops, butchers and grocers cluster around Place du Marché and Rue Schulmeister.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall is suited to neighbourhood life. Friday noon attendance fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. A separate area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
Other mosques in Strasbourg
