Mirail Mosque

Mirail Mosque is located near the campus of Toulouse Jean Jaurès University, in the Mirail district of Toulouse. It welcomes residents of the area, students and university staff for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

Tisséo metro line A serves the campus directly with the Mirail - Université stop, a few minutes on foot from the mosque. The Reynerie and Bellefontaine stops, on the same line, offer additional options. Tisséo bus lines 14, 47 and the Linéo L2 express complete the grid towards Basso Cambo, Colomiers and the city centre. By car, the western ring road Le Mirail exit is nearby, with parking available around the campus.

The neighbourhood

Le Mirail is a university and residential district in western Toulouse, designed by Georges Candilis in the 1960s. The area combines largely rehabilitated social housing, the Toulouse Jean Jaurès University campus and municipal amenities. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented in the neighbouring Reynerie and Bellefontaine districts. The Reynerie lake and Mirail park, a few minutes away, offer relaxation spots.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall is attended by a mixed community of students and local residents. Friday noon quickly fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
