Talence Mosque

Talence Mosque is located in the north of the commune, near the Bordeaux boundary. It is Talence's oldest Muslim place of worship, with a loyal community organised around a registered association. The hall opens for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

TBM tram line B serves the Barrière de Toulouse and Peixotto stops, about ten minutes on foot from the mosque. Line A, at the Béchade stop, offers an alternative from the Bordeaux centre. Bus lines 8 and 20 complete the grid towards Thouars and Villenave-d'Ornon. By car, access from Bordeaux is via cours de la Libération, with on-street parking available in the surrounding residential streets.

The neighbourhood

Northern Talence, next to Bordeaux, combines 1930s to 1970s residential housing, recent buildings and small co-ownerships. Cours de la Libération, the main axis, gathers local shops and tram stops. The University of Bordeaux campuses are only a few minutes away by tram. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are present in the Compostelle district and along cours de la Libération.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall is attended by a loyal local community, with peak attendance at Friday noon. A first visit runs more smoothly on another day, at weekday prayers. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
