Mosques in Talence

Talence lies south of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Garonne river. The commune, home to over forty thousand residents, owes part of its character to the University of Bordeaux campuses, which extend from Pessac and give Talence a substantial student population. Where to find a mosque in Talence

Talence Mosque, the oldest, serves the north of the commune towards the Bordeaux boundary. To the south, Talence Thouars Mosque, in the Thouars district, is part of a more recent building project led by the local Muslim association. Talence Prayer Hall, on rue Henry de Montherlant, rounds out the offer for the Compostelle district. Each hall opens for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer, with varying setups depending on attendance.

Public transport access

Talence is served by TBM tram line B, which runs across the commune from east to west towards Pessac Centre, with several stops including Peixotto, Forum, Doyen Brus and Unitec. Bus line 8 serves the south of the commune towards Thouars. Tram line A, at the Béchade stop, serves the northern edge of Talence near Talence Mosque. From Bordeaux Saint-Jean, expect about twenty minutes by tram to reach the centre of Talence.

Talence is part of Bordeaux Métropole and forms, with Pessac and Gradignan, the university hub of the south-west of the metropolitan area. The Thouars district, in the south, combines social housing and recent home-ownership schemes. The town centre, around place Alcalá de Henares, gathers shops and neighbourhood life. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are present in the Thouars and Compostelle districts. Worshippers in Talence also attend the Bordeaux Saint-Michel mosques depending on proximity and prayer times.
