Al Ihsane Mosque

Al Ihsane Mosque is at 10 rue Coulaux, in the Neudorf district of Strasbourg. Run by the Al Ihsane association, it serves as a daily prayer venue for local residents and the surrounding areas. It holds the five daily prayers, Friday prayer and runs educational activities around the Quran school and Arabic classes.

Getting there

Kibitzenau tram stop, on line C, is less than five minutes on foot. Lines A and D at Étoile Polygone are reached in a fifteen-minute walk or three minutes by tram. CTS buses 14 and 24 serve the area. The central station is twenty minutes away by direct tram. By car, the A35 Étoile exit then Rue de Colmar lead to the district, with street parking available nearby.

The neighbourhood

Neudorf is the large working-class district south of the Ill, long industrial and now deeply transformed by the Deux-Rives and Presqu'île Malraux projects. Rue Coulaux, in its older stretch, keeps a fabric mixing small buildings, local shops, cafés and associations. Halal butchers, Turkish grocers and specialised shops are numerous along Rue de Colmar and Route du Polygone.

The hall is mid-sized. On Friday noon, attendance fills the whole venue, arriving early is safer. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs.
