Al Hashimi Grand Mosque is the main Muslim place of worship in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine. It occupies a new four-storey building at 3 Rue des Docks, in the heart of the Docks district redeveloped since 2010. It was inaugurated at the end of the 2010s after a long associative campaign in a town that lacked a prayer hall matching the size of its community.
Getting there
Mairie de Saint-Ouen station (lines 13 and 14, since 2020) is under ten minutes on foot. From Paris, line 14 offers the fastest ride: ten minutes from Saint-Lazare, fifteen from Châtelet. Line 13, boarded at Saint-Lazare or Miromesnil, takes around fifteen minutes. RER C stops at Saint-Ouen, fifteen minutes away on foot. Bus 85 links Luxembourg to Mairie de Saint-Ouen via Châtelet and the Bourse.
The neighbourhood
The Docks district was deeply reshaped by a redevelopment scheme launched in 2007. Former industrial wastelands replaced by new residential blocks, a landscaped park and a set of public facilities including the town hall. The mosque sits in this new landscape, a few minutes on foot from the Seine, from Docks park and from the Saint-Ouen flea market to the south. The older fabric of Vieux Saint-Ouen begins two streets further.
Practical advice for a visit
The place serves its worshippers first. A first visit is easier outside Friday noon and outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers, when the hall's capacity is fully used. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, women cover their hair, and clothes should cover shoulders and legs. Quiet is expected as soon as you step inside.

Right on the town's edge, in the 18th arrondissement, the Sociocultural Institute of Muslims (Avenue de la Porte des Poissonniers) is a twenty-minute walk away. The mosques of the 10th ('Ali Ibn Al Khattab Mosque) and the 19th (Adda'Wa Mosque) are fifteen minutes away on the métro. The Grand Mosque of Paris, in the 5th, remains the most institutional in the centre city.
