Fathi Mosque

Fathi Mosque is located at 25 rue Charles Beauhaire, in Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, in the first western ring around Orléans. It welcomes residents of the commune and neighbouring districts for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

TAO tram line A runs along the south of Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle with the Pont Européen stop, about ten minutes on foot from the mosque. TAO bus lines complete the service within the commune and towards La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, Ingré and Ormes. By car, access is via the N152 from Orléans, the RD2157 from Blois, or the A10 Saran exit from the north. On-street parking is available in the surrounding residential streets.

The neighbourhood

Rue Charles Beauhaire shapes part of the southern side of Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, between the redeveloped districts of Les Chaises and Les Salmoneries and older detached-house neighbourhoods. The Béchets shopping area, a few minutes away, complements the local offer. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented in the area, including along rue Charles Beauhaire. The town-hall park and the Loire riverside walk to the south offer green spaces.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall hosts an active community, especially on Friday noon. A first visit runs more smoothly outside the main prayers. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.

Fathi Mosque is the only listed Muslim place of worship in the commune. For other prayer halls, Annour Mosque in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin is a few minutes away by car to the west, Ibn-Badiss Mosque is in central Orléans, and both Assounah Mosque in Argonne and the AMF Cultural Center in Fleury-les-Aubrais can be reached within fifteen minutes.
