Sillon de Bretagne Mosque

Sillon de Bretagne Mosque is located at the foot of the Sillon de Bretagne tower, an emblematic building in northern Saint-Herblain, on the boundary with the Bout des Landes district in Nantes. It welcomes a large catchment for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

TAN tram line 3 serves the area with the Bourgeonnière stop, about ten minutes on foot from the mosque. Chronobus line C6 serves Sillon with a stop right nearby. Bus lines 71 and 91 complete the grid towards Bellevue and the Saint-Herblain centre. By car, access from the ring road exit 34 is via boulevard Charles Gautier, with plenty of on-street parking available around the tower.

The neighbourhood

Sillon de Bretagne is an emblematic residential estate in northern Saint-Herblain, built at the end of the 1970s around a nineteen-storey linear building. The area, under rehabilitation since the 2010s, combines renovated social housing, recent home-ownership schemes and public amenities. The Sillon shopping centre and place François Mitterrand gather local shops and municipal services. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented around the shopping centre and along boulevard Charles Gautier.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall serves a wide community and fills up quickly at Friday noon. A first visit runs more smoothly on another day, at weekday prayers. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.

Other mosques in Saint-Herblain and around

Preux Mosque, a few minutes away by bus in the Preux district, rounds out the offer in Saint-Herblain. The Nantes-Bellevue mosques, Fathi Mosque, Mevlana Mosque, the Turkish Mosque and Aicha Mosque, are reachable by tram in about fifteen minutes. Arrahma Mosque, north of Nantes, is also reachable in about twenty minutes.
