Getting there
TAN tram line 1 serves Bellevue with the stop of the same name, a few minutes on foot from the mosque. Bus lines C3 and 71 serve the district from the city centre and Saint-Herblain. By car, access from the ring road exit 33 is via route de Vannes, with on-street parking available in the surrounding residential streets, more abundant than in the city centre.
The neighbourhood
Bellevue is a large district in western Nantes, straddling the boundary with Saint-Herblain. The area was built as a large residential estate at the turn of the 1960s and later extensively rehabilitated from the 2000s. It combines renovated social housing blocks, recent home-ownership schemes and small co-ownerships. Place Mendès France and mail des Bourdonnières gather local shops and municipal amenities. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented in the district and along route de Vannes.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall serves a wide community and fills up quickly at Friday noon. A first visit runs more smoothly on another day, at weekday prayers. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
Other mosques in Nantes and around
Other halls are nearby in Nantes: Mevlana Mosque and the Turkish Mosque, in the same Bellevue area, along with Aicha Mosque to the south of the district. Arrahma Mosque, north of Nantes, and Assalam Mosque, to the east, round out the offer. Sillon de Bretagne Mosque and Preux Mosque, in Saint-Herblain, are reachable in a few minutes by tram or bus.
