Getting there
Rue Franklin is a few minutes on foot from Grand-Place metro station (line 2), which reaches Lille Flandres in around twenty minutes. The Lille-Tourcoing tramway also serves central Roubaix. Several bus lines round out the network. By car, access is straightforward from the A22 via the Roubaix-centre exit.
The neighbourhood
The area around rue Franklin is close to Grand-Place and the shopping centre of Roubaix. The urban fabric combines brick townhouses, older buildings and recent renovations. Halal shops, butchers and grocers can be reached in the surrounding streets, particularly around rue de l'Alma and rue de Lannoy.
Practical advice for a visit
The mosque has an active community and draws a large crowd on Friday noon and during Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Outside those times attendance is quieter. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair. The site essedik.fr regularly posts useful announcements.
