Annour Mosque stands at 4 rue Jules Ferry, in the La Source district south of the Loire. It carries the « Orléans South » suffix to distinguish it from another Annour Mosque located in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin. The venue welcomes residents of the neighbourhood for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.
Getting there
TAO tram line A serves La Source with several stops, including Université L'Indien and Bolière, a few minutes on foot from the mosque. The trip reaches central Orléans in about twenty minutes. TAO bus lines complete the grid towards Olivet and Saint-Cyr-en-Val. By car, access is via the RD2020 from the centre or the A71 Orléans-La Source exit. On-street parking is available in the surrounding residential streets.
The neighbourhood
La Source is a large planned district developed from the 1960s onwards, seven kilometres south of the historic centre. It combines the university, the teaching hospital, several rehabilitated housing estates and the Parc Floral, one of the largest green sites in Orléans. The Centre Commercial 2002 and the Bolière market gather everyday shops. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented around the shopping centre and along Avenue de la Bolière.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall hosts an active community, especially on Friday noon. A first visit runs more smoothly outside the main prayers. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
