Mosquée de Loos, also known as Mossaab, is located at 51 rue Wastin in Loos, in the south-western part of the Métropole Européenne de Lille. It is the main Muslim place of worship in the town and holds the five daily prayers as well as the Friday prayer.

Getting there

Loos is served by CHU-Eurasanté metro station (line 1), fifteen minutes from central Lille. Several bus lines round out the network, particularly towards Haubourdin and Faches-Thumesnil. By car, rue Wastin is reached from boulevard de l'Ouest and the N41, with nearby street parking.

The neighbourhood

Loos is marked by its proximity to the regional university hospital, one of the largest in France, and by an urban fabric mixing older housing, student residences and recent developments. Central Loos and its shops are reachable on foot, with several halal butchers and grocers around rue du Maréchal Foch.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall welcomes both local residents and students and workers from the nearby university hospital. A first visit is easier outside Friday noon and outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair. The site mosqueeloos.com regularly publishes community announcements.

Nearby mosques

The mosques of Lille are around ten minutes away by metro, notably Mosquée Al Imane on rue de Marquillies, Mosquée Es-Salam on rue Jean Jaurès and Mosquée Badr on rue d'Arras. Mosquée Al Amal in Wattignies and Salle Mossa in Seclin round out the offering in the southern part of the metropolitan area.
