Getting there
Rue Jean du Solier lies in the Fives district, a few minutes on foot from Fives metro station (line 1). From Lille Flandres, two stops are enough to reach the area. Several bus lines round out the network. By car, access is via boulevard de Metz and boulevard de l'Usine.
The neighbourhood
Fives is a historic district of Lille, marked by its industrial past and by many courées and workers' houses. Urban renewal and the arrival of facilities such as the Fives-Cail halle have given the area new dynamism. Halal shops, butchers and grocers are reachable around place Degeyter and rue Pierre Legrand.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall is modest in size and fills quickly on Friday noon. A first visit is easier outside that time and outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair. Quiet is expected as soon as you step inside.
