Mosquée Badr is located at 202-204-206 rue d'Arras in Lille, in the Wazemmes district. Spread across three levels, it is among the city's main Muslim buildings and welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers as well as for the Friday prayer. The hall is unisex, with dedicated areas for women and men.
Getting there
Rue d'Arras is a few minutes on foot from Porte d'Arras metro station (line 2), two stops from Lille Flandres. From Wazemmes, the metro station of the same name on line 1 is also reachable on foot. Several bus lines round out the network. By car, access is via boulevard Victor Hugo and the N356.
The neighbourhood
Rue d'Arras runs through a transition area between Wazemmes and Lille-Sud. The urban fabric combines older buildings, brick townhouses and more recent developments. Wazemmes market, one of the liveliest in the city, is fifteen minutes on foot. Halal shops, butchers and grocers are spread along the whole of rue d'Arras and in the neighbouring streets.
Practical advice for a visit
The building's large capacity, spread across three levels, makes reception more flexible than in small mosques, but a first visit is easier outside Friday noon and outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair.
