TAG tram line A has its southern terminus at Denis Papin, on the border with Échirolles, about fifteen minutes on foot from the mosque. TAG bus lines serve the centre of Le Pont-de-Claix and connect to Échirolles, Grenoble and Vizille. Le Pont-de-Claix station, on the Grenoble-Gap line, handles regional TER services to the surrounding valleys. By car, the A480 Pont-de-Claix exit is close by.
Local context
Le Pont-de-Claix, around 12,000 residents, grew up around its chemical industrial site established in the early 20th century and still in operation. The commune combines a town core rebuilt in the 1960s-70s, older detached-house neighbourhoods and newer residential fabric to the south. The Muslim community, mainly of North African origin, took shape through the waves of migration linked to the industrial activity.
