Al Houda Mosque

Al Houda Mosque is located in Illzach, in the first northern ring of Mulhouse. It welcomes residents of the commune and neighbouring districts for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.

Getting there

Tram line 3 of the Soléa network serves Illzach with several stops, including Illzach Modenheim and Île Napoléon, a few minutes away from the mosque by foot or by bus. The tram reaches central Mulhouse and the TGV station in about fifteen minutes. Soléa bus lines complete the grid towards Kingersheim, Sausheim and Wittenheim. By car, the A35 Île Napoléon exit is immediately nearby, with street parking available in the surrounding streets.

The neighbourhood

Illzach combines the historic village core, detached-house areas and the housing blocks of the Jonquilles district. The mosque is located close to residential streets and a few minutes from the Île Napoléon retail area, one of the largest shopping hubs in Alsace, where halal butchers, Middle-Eastern grocers and supermarkets are found. Parc des Chênes and the banks of the Ill river offer walking spots.

Practical advice for a visit

The hall is modest in size. Friday noon attendance fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. A separate area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.

Al Houda is the only Muslim place of worship listed in the commune.
