Mosques in Hurtigheim

Hurtigheim is a rural commune of Bas-Rhin located in the Kochersberg, about twelve kilometres west of Strasbourg. It has around 700 inhabitants and one listed Muslim prayer venue, welcoming worshippers from the commune, the canton and the neighbouring villages of the Kochersberg.

Where to find a mosque in Hurtigheim

Mahdi Mosque, on route des Romains, is the Muslim place of worship listed in the commune. With a capacity of around 250 people, it holds the five daily prayers and the Friday prayer. Worshippers looking for other venues will find, less than a fifteen-minute drive away, the mosques of Strasbourg, in particular the main mosque on rue Averroès and the mosques of the Hautepierre and Cronenbourg districts.

Public transport access

Hurtigheim is served by the Réseau 67 bus lines, connecting it to Truchtersheim and to Strasbourg via the central railway station. The Kuttolsheim railway halt, on the Strasbourg-Molsheim line, is a few minutes away. By car, the A351 is reached in around ten minutes and joins the centre of Strasbourg through the Wolfisheim exit. The nearby A4 also gives quick access to the rest of Grand Est.

Local context

Hurtigheim has preserved the village fabric typical of the Kochersberg, with its Alsatian half-timbered houses, its farms and its Sainte-Marguerite church. The commune is surrounded by an agricultural plain devoted to cereals, hops and cabbage for sauerkraut. Local shops and halal grocers are accessible in the neighbouring towns and above all in Strasbourg, in particular in the districts of Hautepierre, Cronenbourg and Koenigshoffen.
