Bischheim is a commune of Bas-Rhin located in the first northern ring of Strasbourg, within the Eurométropole. With around 18,000 inhabitants, it borders Schiltigheim, Hœnheim and Strasbourg, and has one listed Muslim prayer venue serving worshippers from the town and neighbouring districts.

Where to find a mosque in Bischheim

The Bischheim Mosque is the Muslim place of worship listed in the commune. It holds the five daily prayers and the Friday prayer. Residents looking for other prayer venues will find, a few minutes away, the mosques of Strasbourg, in particular the main mosque on rue Averroès, the Robertsau Mosque to the north, and the mosques of Cronenbourg and Hautepierre to the west.

Public transport access

Bischheim is served by tram line B of the Strasbourg network, with several stops in the commune connecting directly to central Strasbourg in around twenty minutes. The CTS bus network completes the local grid and links the neighbouring towns of Schiltigheim, Hœnheim and Souffelweyersheim. Bischheim railway station, on the Strasbourg-Wissembourg line, is also accessible. By car, the A4 and A35 motorways are immediately nearby.

Local context

Bischheim has preserved a heritage marked by the historical presence of a significant Alsatian Jewish community, with its old synagogue and mikveh, and by the neighbourhood of the railway workshops. Local shops, markets, halal butchers and grocers are accessible in the town centre and in the adjoining neighbourhoods of Schiltigheim and Strasbourg. The Parc du Marais and the banks of the Ill offer green spaces valued by residents.
