El Feth Mosque is located in the Bajatière district, east of Grenoble, between the Villeneuve and the university campus. It welcomes residents of the area for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.
Getting there
TAG tram line C serves the district with the Grenoble Hôpital Michallon and Neyrpic-Belledonne stops, about ten minutes on foot from the mosque. Line A, at Malherbe, is a second option. TAG bus lines C3 and C4 complete the grid towards central Grenoble and Meylan. By car, the southern ring road Grenoble-Bajatière exit is nearby, with on-street parking available in the residential streets.
The neighbourhood
La Bajatière combines older detached-house estates, more recent small apartment blocks and the edge of Paul Mistral park. The area is quiet, within walking distance of Charles Berty stadium and the Olympic park. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are mainly found along avenue Jeanne d'Arc and rue Général Ferrié. Proximity to the university campus attracts a varied student population.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall is modest in size, sized for local attendance. Friday noon quickly fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly during the week. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
