Getting there
TAG tram line A serves the Villeneuve with the Arlequin and La Bruyère stops, a few minutes on foot from the mosque. Line C, at Grand'Place, is a second option. TAG bus lines C2 and 12 complete the grid towards Échirolles and central Grenoble. By car, the southern ring road Villeneuve exit is closest, with on-street parking available in the residential streets.
The neighbourhood
Rue Colombine is located in the southern part of La Villeneuve, between the Arlequin and the Alliés district. The area combines rehabilitated 1970s housing and recent small home-ownership apartment blocks. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented around the Arlequin market, Place des Géants and along rue des Alliés. Jean Verlhac park, a few minutes away, is the main green space in the neighbourhood.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall is modest in size, sized for local attendance. Friday noon quickly fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
