Assalam Mosque

The Assalam Mosque is a Muslim place of worship in Aulnay-sous-Bois, located in the Rose-des-Vents district in the north of the commune. Its name, which means "peace" in Arabic, captures the spirit it fosters within the local community.

The Assalam Mosque welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. It plays a particularly important role during the month of Ramadan, with the nightly Tarawih prayers and iftar gatherings, as well as during the major religious holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha). It is one of the town's main places of worship, alongside several associative rooms scattered between northern Aulnay and the historic town centre.

Aulnay-sous-Bois and its Muslim community

Aulnay-sous-Bois is one of the most populous towns in Seine-Saint-Denis, with nearly eighty-five thousand inhabitants. Its Muslim community is large and diverse, with North African, West African and Turkish roots rooted in the working-class history of the town. It is organised around several long-established religious associations.

Access and transport

Aulnay-sous-Bois station, on RER B, is about a twenty-minute walk from the Rose-des-Vents district. It reaches Paris (Gare du Nord) in about twenty-five minutes. Tramway T4, which crosses the town from south to north, directly serves northern Aulnay via the branch towards Clichy-sous-Bois. Street parking is available in the surrounding streets but can be saturated during major prayers.

Advice for visitors

As in any place of worship, appropriate dress is expected, and shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. Friday prayer and major religious holidays attract large crowds; arriving early is recommended.
