The Drancy Mosque is a Muslim place of worship located in Drancy, Seine-Saint-Denis. It is the main landmark for the Muslim community of the town and its wider area in the north-east Paris suburbs.

A mosque of Drancy

The Drancy Mosque welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. It takes on particular importance during the month of Ramadan, with the nightly Tarawih prayers and iftar gatherings, as well as during the celebrations of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Drancy and its Muslim community

Drancy is a Seine-Saint-Denis commune of around seventy-two thousand inhabitants, about ten kilometres north-east of Paris. The local Muslim community is large and diverse, with North African, West African and Turkish roots. Several other associative rooms exist in the neighbouring communes of Bobigny, Le Bourget and Le Blanc-Mesnil.

Access and transport

Drancy station, on RER B, connects the town to Gare du Nord in about fifteen minutes. Tramway T1 serves the town with several stops. By car, the A86 and N2 link Drancy to Paris and to the north-east suburbs. A dense urban bus network completes coverage.

Advice for visitors

As in any place of worship, appropriate dress is expected, and shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. Friday prayer and major religious holidays attract large crowds; arriving early is recommended.
