Robertsau Mosque lies in the Robertsau district, in the north of Strasbourg. It is the main Muslim place of worship for the north of the city and welcomes worshippers from Robertsau, Wacken and the neighbouring towns of Bischheim and Hœnheim for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer.
Getting there
Boecklin tram stop, on line E, is less than ten minutes on foot. Line E reaches the central station in about fifteen minutes via Place de la République. CTS buses 6 and 30 serve the area. By car, the Rue Boecklin then Avenue de la Robertsau axis connects the district to the city centre. Street parking is available nearby.
The neighbourhood
Robertsau is the large residential district of northern Strasbourg, known for its nature-reserve forest, its European institutions just nearby and its fabric of family houses. The district keeps both a village-like and a diplomatic character, with the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights a few minutes away. Local shops and grocers are found along Rue Boecklin and Rue Mélanie.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall is mid-sized. Friday noon attendance fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. A separate area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
Other mosques in Strasbourg
About fifteen minutes away are the Strasbourg Mosque on Rue Averroès and the Neudorf mosques (Al Ihsane, Semerkand, Eyyub-Sultan). To the west, the mosques of Cronenbourg, Hautepierre and Koenigshoffen serve the other side of the city. Bischheim Mosque is a few minutes away by tram or car heading north.
