Address
7-13 Avenue de Stalingrad, 93240 Stains

The Grand Mosque of Stains is the main Muslim place of worship in the town, located at 7-13 avenue de Stalingrad. It is a central landmark for the Muslim community of northern Seine-Saint-Denis.

A grand mosque of northern Seine-Saint-Denis

The Grand Mosque of Stains welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. It takes on particular importance during the month of Ramadan, when the nightly Tarawih prayers draw large crowds, as well as during the major religious holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha). It can be reached by phone and maintains an official website where practical information for worshippers is published.

Stains and its Muslim community

Stains is a Seine-Saint-Denis commune of around thirty-eight thousand inhabitants, between Saint-Denis and Pierrefitte-sur-Seine. The local Muslim community is long established, with North African, West African and Turkish roots rooted in the working-class and associative history of the town. The Grand Mosque is the main gathering place, complemented by several neighbourhood rooms spread between the town centre and Clos-Saint-Lazare.

Access and transport

Stains does not have an RER station within its boundaries, but several neighbouring hubs are easily accessible. Pierrefitte - Stains station, on RER D, is less than two kilometres from the mosque. Tramway T5, between Saint-Denis station and the Sarcelles-Lochères market, serves the southern part of the town. The T11 Express tramway, opened in 2017 between Le Bourget and Épinay-sur-Seine, runs nearby. A bus network completes local coverage, with several stops on avenue de Stalingrad. Street parking is available in the surrounding streets, though it can be saturated during major prayers.

Advice for visitors

As in any place of worship, appropriate dress is expected, and shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. Friday prayer and major religious holidays attract particularly large crowds; arriving early is recommended. The mosque's official website remains the best source for exact times.
