Mosquée Eyüp Sultan Roubaix is a second prayer venue run by the Turkish community of Roubaix. It welcomes worshippers for daily prayers as well as for the Friday prayer.
Getting there
The mosque is located in Roubaix, a few minutes from metro line 2 stations linking Lille Flandres to the Tourcoing terminus. Several bus lines round out the network and the Lille-Tourcoing tramway serves central Roubaix. By car, access is straightforward from the A22 via the Roubaix-centre exit.
The neighbourhood
Roubaix retains an urban fabric shaped by its textile past, with many brick townhouses, renewed courées and recent developments. Halal shops, butchers and grocers are spread across central Roubaix, particularly around rue de l'Alma, rue de Lannoy and Grand-Place.
Practical advice for a visit
The venue mainly serves the local Turkish community and the atmosphere is family-oriented. A first visit is easier outside Friday noon and outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair. Quiet is expected as soon as you step inside.
Other mosques in Roubaix
Roubaix has several other mosques within less than a kilometre. Mosquée Eyüp Sultan on rue Daubenton is the other Turkish community place of worship. Mosquée Bilal on rue de l'Épeule, Mosquée Abou Bakr Essedik on rue Franklin, Mosquée Es-Sunna on rue Saint-Maurice, Mosquée Da'wa on rue Archimède and Mosquée Arrahma on rue d'Anzin are among the main complementary options.
