The En-Nasr Mosque is a place of prayer in the east of Marseille, in the residential districts around La Pomme and Saint-Loup, in the 10th arrondissement. It welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers and for the Friday prayer.
Getting there
The area is reached by metro line 1 to La Timone or Saint-Barnabé, then a bus or a short drive to the site. By car, the La Pomme or Saint-Loup exit off the A50 leaves you a few minutes away. Parking on the residential streets is easier outside Friday noon.
The neighbourhood
The eastern side of the 10th arrondissement combines large housing complexes, detached-house estates and old village centres. La Pomme, Saint-Loup and the Timone area form an inhabited district, served by local shops and by wide arteries like Boulevard Romain Rolland and Avenue de Toulon. Several halal butchers and grocers are reachable in the area.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall serves a local community and the atmosphere is family-oriented. A first visit is easier on a weekday, outside Friday noon and outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair. Quiet is expected as soon as you step inside.
