Getting there
The mosque is close to Saint-Charles station, about twenty minutes' walk from the forecourt. Metro line 2 at National station, then a few minutes on foot, is the most direct way by public transport. By car, the route runs via Boulevard National, with easier street parking outside Friday noon.
The neighbourhood
The 3rd arrondissement carries the industrial and working past of Marseille. The streets around the mosque mix old apartment blocks, working-class shops and converted former workshops. Halal grocers, butchers and restaurants along Boulevard National and its side streets are minutes away. Belle de Mai, with the Friche cultural centre in the former tobacco factory, is a short distance away.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall serves a local community and attendance is heavier on Friday noon. A first visit is easier on a weekday, outside Ramadan Tarawih night prayers. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, clothing should cover shoulders and legs, and women cover their hair. Quiet is expected as soon as you step inside.
