Getting there
TAG tram line A serves the district via the Vallier - Jaurès stop, a few minutes on foot from the mosque. Line E, at Alsace-Lorraine, is a second option for the west of Grenoble. TAG bus lines C1 and 16 complete the service towards the city centre and Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux. By car, the A480 Mistral - Eaux Claires exit is closest, with on-street parking available in the surrounding residential streets.
The neighbourhood
Mistral is one of the main districts of western Grenoble, currently undergoing urban renewal, between 1950s-70s social housing and more recent developments. The area combines housing estates, small shops and local amenities around Place des Géants. Halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are well represented along rue Anatole France and rue Marx Dormoy. Bachelard park and the banks of the Drac river offer green spaces a short distance away.
Practical advice for a visit
The hall is modest in size, sized for local attendance. Friday noon quickly fills the venue, a first visit runs more smoothly on another day. Shoes come off at the entrance, women cover their hair, clothes should cover shoulders and legs. An area is provided for women. Quiet is expected from the door.
Other mosques in Grenoble
Other halls are nearby: El Qalam Mosque on rue Gérin in the same district, Abou Bakr Mosque on rue Anatole France, Capuche Mosque on rue Général Ferrié, and the Grand Mosque of Échirolles, reachable by tram line A.
