Colomiers, the Haute-Garonne department's second largest town with nearly forty thousand residents, forms the western extension of the Toulouse metropolitan area. The commune, shaped by Airbus's local footprint and by rapid growth from the 1960s onwards, hosts an active Muslim community organised around one main place of worship.
Where to find a mosque in Colomiers
Al'Ihsane Mosque, run by the Colomiers Muslim association, is the town's main place of worship. The hall opens for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. For other halls, several mosques in Toulouse, notably in the Mirail, Reynerie and Bellefontaine sectors, are reachable in a few minutes by car or regional TER train.
Public transport access
Colomiers station, in the town centre, welcomes TER services on line C of the Tisséo Rail network, reaching Toulouse-Matabiau in about ten minutes. Tram line T1 serves Colomiers from Toulouse via Blagnac, with several stops on the commune, including Aéroconstellation to the east. Tisséo bus lines, including the Linéo L3 express, complete the grid towards Tournefeuille and Toulouse. By car, the western ring road and the N124 towards Auch frame the commune, with on-street parking available in the residential areas.
Local context
Colomiers is the most populated town in the Toulouse suburbs, sustained by the Airbus sites, the Val Tolosa shopping centre and a dense residential fabric. The Muslim community, drawn from North African and Turkish backgrounds, is well established in the Val d'Aran, Perget and En Jacca districts. Several halal butchers and Middle-Eastern grocers are present along avenue Yves Brunaud and in the Perget sector.
