Meyzieu is a commune located at the far eastern edge of the Lyon metropolitan area, on the threshold of the Rhône plain. With around 33,000 inhabitants, it is one of the major cities in eastern Lyon. Muslims living in Meyzieu have a local mosque where they can perform their daily prayers.

The full journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Several bus routes also serve the commune and provide connections to neighbouring cities such as Jonage, Décines-Charpieu and Chassieu. The commune also has quick access to the A46 motorway.

It benefits from the Grand Large, a landscaped lake designed for leisure activities, along with numerous sports and cultural facilities. Despite its position on the outskirts of the metropolitan area, Meyzieu remains well connected to the rest of the agglomeration thanks to the tram.
