The Boullereaux Mosque is a Muslim place of worship located in the Boullereaux district, in the north-east of Champigny-sur-Marne, near the border with Bry-sur-Marne. It is one of the two main landmarks for the Muslim community of the town.
A mosque of the Boullereaux district
The Boullereaux Mosque welcomes worshippers for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. It takes on particular importance during the month of Ramadan, with the nightly Tarawih prayers and iftar gatherings, as well as during the celebrations of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Champigny and its Muslim community
Champigny-sur-Marne is a Val-de-Marne commune of around seventy-six thousand inhabitants, in a bend of the Marne east of Paris. The local Muslim community is long established and diverse, with North African, West African and Turkish roots rooted in the working-class history of the eastern loop. The Al Amine Mosque, to the south of the district, complements the religious offer.
Access and transport
Les Boullereaux station, on RER A, is a few minutes' walk away and connects the district to Nation in about fifteen minutes. The future metro line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express, with the Bry-Villiers-Champigny station, will significantly improve the sector's accessibility in the coming years. An urban bus network completes coverage.
Advice for visitors
As in any place of worship, appropriate dress is expected, and shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. Friday prayer and major religious holidays attract large crowds; arriving early is recommended.
