How the search works
The finder uses the position you share, either via your device's geolocation or via the city you type, to query the mosques listed by Mosque Finder. Ranking is then computed as straight-line distance from your starting point, without accounting for traffic or actual driving routes.
We deliberately keep five results only. The goal is to show you the most relevant options at a glance, then let you open each listing or launch directions in Google Maps to go further. Mosques with no usable name in the database are not returned: they would only offer an anonymous address, adding nothing over a generic map.
Your data stays with you
Geolocation is handled only inside your browser to compute distances. No coordinate is sent to our servers. If you type a city, the query goes to the public OpenStreetMap Nominatim service, which replies with coordinates only.
What if no result appears?
It means we do not yet have a named mosque in your immediate neighbourhood. The finder then suggests the page for your city or country when we have one, or the world map so you can explore the area at your own pace.
