The Ibn-abd-al-barr mosque is located at 8 rue de l'Europe in Tourcoing, in the northern part of the Métropole Européenne de Lille. It bears the name of a well-known 11th-century Andalusian scholar and holds the five daily prayers as well as the Friday prayer.
Getting there
Rue de l'Europe lies east of central Tourcoing, a few minutes on foot from Colbert metro station (line 2). From Lille Flandres, metro line 2 reaches the area in about twenty minutes. Several bus lines round out the network. By car, the A22 motorway is a few minutes away via the Tourcoing-centre exit.
The neighbourhood
Rue de l'Europe crosses a residential area typical of Tourcoing, mixing brick townhouses and small apartment buildings. The town centre, with its shops, schools and Grand-Place, is fifteen minutes away on foot. Halal shops and grocers are close by, particularly around rue de Lille and rue Nationale.
Practical advice for a visit
The prayer hall is modest in size and Friday prayer can quickly fill the space. Arriving a little early makes it easier to settle in. Shoes come off before entering the prayer hall, women cover their hair, and clothing should cover shoulders and legs. Quiet is expected as soon as you step inside.

Mosquée Salman Al Farissi on rue du Bus, Mosquée Othman Ibn 'Afane on rue Colbert, Mosquée Ibn Taymiyya on rue du Clinquet, Mosquée Es-Salam on rue de la Croix Rouge and Mosquée Arrahma are all easy to reach on foot or in a few minutes by metro.
